The reading challenge that changed my life—and how it can change yours.

Ever feel like your scripture study has gone flat?
Ever feel like your scripture study has gone flat?
You show up. You read the verses. You highlight a few things.
And you still walk away wondering:
“Why don’t I feel anything? Am I missing something? Where’s the revelation I used to get all the time when I read?”
You’re not alone — and you’re not doing anything wrong.
You’re just hungry for more.
When I hit that same wall, I was desperate for a breakthrough. I didn’t just want to read the scriptures—I wanted to feel closer to the Spirit, to be able to hear it more often and more clearly.

This challenge changed my life.
When my second missionary left, I joined a Book of Mormon reading challenge.
Life was chaos—raising kids, running a business, planning girls’ camp—but I felt a nudge from the Spirit.
Over the next two years, we read the Book of Mormon six times. Each time with a new focus:
➤ Jesus Christ
➤ Gospel principles
➤ The Gathering of Israel
➤ Obedience and blessings
➤ Acting on faith
➤ Personal inspiration
Then, with three months left before my son returned, I got bold.
I decided to read it one more time—in just 100 days.
That’s when the miracle happened.
After a writing session at the library, I grabbed a book off the shelf that seemed important to my life–though I had no idea why: “Your Guide to the Jewish Feasts.”
Back home, I opened a fresh blue copy of the Book of Mormon—and started reading with “festival eyes.”
And there it was in Lehi’s first vision: Rosh Hashanah.
I thought, This is cool—but a coincidence.
Spoiler: it wasn’t.
Nephi didn’t just reference one feast.
He wove all seven sacred feasts of ancient Israel into his record.
In perfect order. As if he had planned it that way.
(Plot twist: He did.)
That final read-through opened my eyes to a truth I had never seen before.
The Book of Mormon isn’t just a book of scripture—it’s a masterpiece of ancient structure layered with covenant, ordinance, and tradition.
And I never would have seen it without this challenge.
What I learned: Revelation doesn’t come by accident.
It comes when we ask.
When we reach.
When we show up with real intent.
This challenge taught me how.
